My Beginnings

From a very young age Akya began doing hair & nail services on her mother and grandmother. Upon finishing high school Akya went straight into cosmetology school in Gastonia North Carolina at Paul Mitchell. Unfortunately Akya did not receive her license after taking the stateboard exam two additional times, Akya actually gave up and ran from her calling, her first gift that was in my hands. After  11 years Akya was having a conversation with her daughter on completing assignments and she sparked a fire inside of Akya to complete what she had started ! So Akya went back to school with a child and faced many adversities but in the end she came out with a WIN! Now Akya can proudly say she is a licesened cosmetologist for the past 10 years and has opereated her own salons her first being "The Lil DIva's Palace" and now "Esteem Beauty Bar".
